Counterfeit Money Pops Up In Unalaska
Fake money was floating around an Unalaska bar bar last week. According to the Unalaska Department of Public Safety, a counterfeit $100 bill turned up in a bank deposit on Monday. Officers concluded that the bill had been used at the Harbor View Bar and Grill, and that it had been mixed in with employee tips.

Congress Recesses Until After Christmas
Congress is recessing until after Christmas without an agreement on staving off the fiscal cliff. Senator Mark Begich is not optimistic. Late Thursday night Speaker John Boehner canceled a vote on his alternative to President Barack Obama’s plan to prevent tax increases and spending cuts January second. That proposal, called Plan B, would have raised taxes on people making more than one million dollars per year.

State seeks power to prosecute Bill Allen on federal trafficking charge
Alaska Attorney General Craig Richards says the state wants authority to pursue charges against former VECO boss Bill Allen for allegedly transporting a young woman across state lines for sex. The state has tried before, but in a letter to U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch today, Richards cites a new law that requires her to allow the state to pursue the federal case, or provide a detailed explanation why she won’t.
