Immigration and Integration
May 12, 2015
Doors open at 6:30 pm. Program starts at 7:00 pm.

More and more people are moving to Alaska from other countries both as immigrants and refugees. They contribute to the local community and economy. How do we as a community make their transitions more successful and the community more welcoming?

We have a limited number of seats. RSVP below.

Racism and Implicit Bias
May 25, 2016

Human interactions are all colored by implicit biases — assumptions we unconsciously make based on media, experiences and societal influences. So how do we look beyond those biases to see people as they really are and strengthen our community?

Artwork by Brett Pierce, 2012.

What happens after prison? How can we help make community re-entry a successful process? What challenges do individuals face?

Details:
Please join us for an art show and special televised forum on the successes and challenges of re-entering the community after incarceration. The event will bring together community members with diverse experiences and questions. During the forum we will be taking questions and comments from the audience.

Panelists include individuals who are re-entering the community after leaving prison, representatives from the Department of Corrections, Alaska Native Justice Center, and the Partners Re-entry Center.

To submit a question for the forum (or for more information) contact Anne Hillman at 550-8447 or ahillman@alaskapublic.org.
