Forks Roadhouse Burns Down

One of the longest-operating roadhouses in Alaska has been destroyed by fire. The Forks Roadhouse in Petersville caught fire sometime Tuesday night. The caretaker for the roadhouse returned on Wednesday to find the structure smoking.

The Talkeetna Fire Department recieved a call Wednesday evening, but the Roadhouse is several miles off the road system, and they were unable to respond.

Matanuska Susitna Borough Assemblyman Vern Halter says he visited the roadhouse often.
