The Sullivan Arena closes as Anchorage’s emergency shelter

The Sullivan Arena in Anchorage is no longer Alaska’s biggest homeless shelter. Capacity was slashed on May 1, down to a quarter of what it had been for much of the winter. While some who left on the first found housing, as Alaska Public Media’s Jeremy Hsieh reports, many left looking for a place to camp.

Jeremy Hsieh has worked in journalism since high school as a reporter, editor and television producer. He lived in Juneau from 2008 to 2022 and now lives in Anchorage.
