Alaska Railroad train strikes pedestrian at Crown Point

An 85-year-old Crown Point man was seriously injured when he was struck by an Alaska Railroad train near the Kenai Peninsula community.

Alaska State Troopers say Ronald Jackson was struck early Saturday and transported to Anchorage for treatment.

Crown Point is 22 miles north of Seward in the Chugach Mountains. The community of about 70 people is between Kenai Lake and Lower Trail Lake.

Troopers took a 911 call at about 3:45 a.m. Saturday that Jackson was struck by the train.

Investigators say Jackson had been walking on tracks.
