Early this morning, the National Weather Service in Anchorage issued a red flag warning effective until 10 p.m. tonight, highlighting that Anchorage would be at a higher risk for wildfires.  The warning came as a result of low humidity and high winds in addition to hot temperatures in the mid 60s to lower 70s. The Weather Service noted that temperatures will be hottest and winds will be gustiest during the late afternoon going into the evening.
