Parenting the Modern Teen, Part 4: Blended Families, Single Parents and Co-Parenting After Divorce

It is difficult enough to parent challenging teenagers in a two-parent family. Often, complicating matters are special circumstances like single parenting, Slope workers, co-parenting after divorce and the multitude of “Blended Family” scenarios. These situations can have an adverse effect on an adolescent’s mental and emotional health and usually put a great deal of strain on pre-existing and new family relationships. Parents are often confounded and at a loss for how to navigate these difficult family systems and how to best support their teens development and overall success.

On the next Line One, host Prentiss Pemberton, LCSW, and his guests will explore the challenges faced by parents who do not fit the traditional “two-parent model.”
