Alaska Gains Some Manufacturing Jobs

Alaska gained a few manufacturing jobs over the past year – a 2 percent increase. According to the 2012 Alaska Manufacturers Directory, published annually by Manufacturer’s News Incorporated., Alaska gained more than 600 new industrial jobs.

The state has 927 manufacturers listed, employing more than 34,000 workers.

The majority of those jobs are associated with the petroleum and seafood industries. The fabricated metals and lumber industries saw job losses by nearly 9 percent over the last 12 months.
