Governor Opposes Formula Increase for Schools

Governor Parnell today showed no support for the Senate’s plans to increase the formula that determines how much state money goes to local school districts.

Bill Would Help Preserve Alaska Native Languages

The Alaska Senate State Affairs committee heard testimony Tuesday on Senator Donny Olson’s bill to create an Alaska Native Language Preservation and Advisory Council. Annette Evans Smith, the President of the Alaska Native Heritage Center, says the time for action on keeping languages alive is now.

Man Stabbed At Inlet Inn Hotel

There was another stabbing in Anchorage last night. Charged with assault is Jackie Adams, 50, who is accused of stabbing Andrew Wilson, 50, at the downtown Inlet Inn hotel in a dispute over the bill for the room Adams was holding a drinking party in.

Snow, Snow, Snow!

Here in Alaska we are used to snow. I have friends who build elaborate families of snowmen, have plows attached to the front of their trucks and I personally have trained Brodie (our dog) to eat snow in an attempt to keep our back deck clear....seriously he loves the stuff. Read more.
