Federal authorities are not finished with their legal actions against BP for oil spills tied to the corporation’s budget practices. Outgoing Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement head Michael Bromwich says the government will issue more citations for the Deepwater Horizon spill after investigating the records of what led up to that catastrophic blowout in the Gulf of Mexico. And in Alaska on Tuesday , EPA enforcement officer Matt Goers testified at length about his efforts to get BP to deal with a freezing pipe at the Lisburne field before it finally burst, as a hearing continues on whether that 2009 spill constituted a violation of BP’s probation terms from a criminal conviction stemming from its earlier and larger spill at Prudhoe Bay.
