A family member has confirmed that former state Senator Ben Stevens has been told he will not face federal corruption charges. Stevens was named as a bribe recipient in testimony by VECO owner Bill Allen. But the $243,000 he received from VECO for unspecified consulting services was never really hidden. At least two grand juries looked into the federal corruption evidence, but the prosecution was later found to be flawed because evidence about Allen’s character was not shared with defendants.
