Two days after the search for her was called off, Talkeetna musher Melanie Gould contacted police on Saturday. The Iditarod veteran had been missing for more than a week. Alaska state troopers conducted a search for Gould in an area near Cantwell, where her truck was found. Gould was taken to a Matanuska Susitna area hospital on Saturday. Trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters would not give Gould's condition or say where she was found.
