Rep. Scott Kawasaki from Fairbanks is promoting early childhood education. He says those who attended preschool are more employable when they’re older and less likely to commit crimes or depend on public assistance.
Kawasaki is sponsoring a bill to create an optional program to educate three- and four-year olds.
Anchorage Rep. Les Gara says he is pushing for increased funding for the state’s preschool program, currently in its third year of operation.
