The U.S. Senate campaign stepped up over the weekend, with debates at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and in Anchorage featuring frank exchanges Republican nominee Joe Miller, Democratic nominee Scott McAdams and write-in candidate Lisa Murkowski. Murkowski picked up endorsements from the Anchorage Daily News, Juneau Empire and Alaska Newspapers, Incorporated. But her campaign drew fire because of a mailer that gave a list of Democrats and implied they were voting for her. Several of the Democrats, including Gubernatorial nominee Ethan Berkowitz, said that’s simply not true.
